MPEG Video ES Utils Pro – The MPEG-2 Video Elementary Stream Revealed
MPEG Video ES Utils Pro solution provides a structural representation of MPEG-2 video elementary stream, compliant with the ISO/IEC 13818-2 specification. The application allows the user to investigate the video sequence headers, group of picture headers, picture headers with their extensions, slices, macroblocks, blocks, VLC coefficients and motion vectors.
MPEG Video ES Utils Pro also provides MPEG-2 video stream verification and validation according to the ISO/IEC 13818-2 video format standard.
Apart from the manual MPEG-2 video media validation provided in the MPEG Video ES Utils Pro solution, Jongbel Media Solutions also provides automated MPEG video stream media validation in its Media Validator solution.
- Structural representation of MPEG-2 video elementary stream;
- Hex data representation of the file;
- Picture slice list;
- Detailed slice structure – macroblocks, blocks, VLC coefficients, motion vectors, etc.
- Automatic hex positioning of the selected block;
- Bitrate transrate of the file;
- Hex editing of the selected block;
- MPEG-2 video validation;
The following list contains some of the container validation check groups used in the verification process:

MPEG Video ES Utils Pro’s General Information
All stream errors, such as incorrect video stream structure or invalid header values, pointed as mandatory in the corresponding specification are output as Error Report. All video stream irregularities, which are not mandatory according to the corresponding specification, but have unusual content are output as Warning Reports. Additionally there is a set of Informational Reports, which deliver more detailed information about the file being examined, such as the stream format, media duration, etc.
It is possible to enable or disable each MPEG video stream check. Switching each report type to Info, Warning or Error allows customization of the validation process. It is possible to apply the solution in wide variety of workflows and with many container format deviations due to its flexibility and customization ability.
The validation report output can be exported into XML report file, containing the full report information in standard XML format. This allows easy integration of the solution with any digital media workflow and further processing of the report information with any third party systems.
The validation takes only a few seconds for an average long and complex media file to be processed.
